Anna Werle - Celebrated Debut at Arena di Verona

Mezzo-soprano Anna Werle had an especially successful debut at Arena di Verona: A rare honour for a German vocal artist, Anna sang the role of Fenena in Giuseppe Verdi’s Nabucco, a cornerstone of Italian repertoire at one of the world’s most iconic opera venues. The critics’ response was unanimous: “All this is being sung in marvelously beautiful fashion (…) The other soloists are on that same top level, first and foremost Anna Werle as a delicate, perfect Fenena.” (Forum Opéra).

C’è perfino una Fenena bella e brava, Anna Werle.
— Alberto Mattioli, La Stampa

And the ever critical Alberto Mattioli wrote in La Stampa: “Finally a beautiful, excellent Fenena: Anna Werle.” The Stuart Review had this to say: “Anna Werle as Fenena delivered a brilliant performance with a lovely, strong voice that soared beautifully throughout the evening. Her vocal work was consistently impressive, bringing both technical prowess and genuine emotional commitment to the role.”

Tout cela est merveilleusement bien chanté (…) Les autres interprètes sont à la hauteur, à commencer par Anna Werle, délicate et stylée Fenena.
