Babayan in Verbier: From Solo Recital to Orchestral Highlights

In July 2025 Sergei Babayan will return to the Verbier Festival, for three performances not to be missed. On 19 July, he will play his groundbreaking solo recital programme simply called SONGS, a journey through the history of melody in Western music, from Schubert’s eternal songs in their fantastic transcriptions by Liszt, all the way to Keith Jarrett and Charles Trenet. On 22 July, Babayan will reunite with his long-time pianistic partner and former student Daniil Trifonov, for another performance of Bartók’s breathtaking Concerto for Two Pianos, Percussion and orchestra Sz. 115, with Klaus Mäkelä conducting the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra. An avid chamber musician, Sergei Babayan will also join forces with Janine Jansen, Timothy Ridout and Daniel Blendulf for Brahms’ Piano Quartet No. 1 in G minor Op. 25, on 25 July.
